Nefertiti Cameo Pendant

Designer Notes and Details

As seen on Season 3 of HBO's Insecure!

When worn, the Nefertiti Cameo Pendant Necklace is a reminder of the beauty, power and regality that lies within each one of us.

Nefertiti (1300bc), whose name means "a beautiful woman has come," was the queen and co-ruler of Egypt alongside her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten during the 14th century B.C.
Together, they birthed an artistic revolution of realism; during their reign it was royal law that Egyptians be depicted as they actually appeared, naturalistic and with a sense of movement. This was a radical move breaking off from the artistic tradition of their predecessors, where portrayals of Egyptians appeared stenciled and rigid. Perhaps most noteworthy, the majestic duo created the cult of Aten, the Sun God. Egypt, formerly a civilization of polytheistic (many gods) worship, became a monotheistic one, worshipping only one deity, the Sun. This African religion became the first monotheistic religion recorded in history. #indigenous #african #spirituality
